Winslow
High School 100th
Anniversary Weekend Winslow High School alumni from over
twenty-three states attended
a special 100th
anniversary Alumni Weekend
celebration on October 7 and
8 in Winslow and at the
Holiday Inn Airport
Evansville.
Alumni pride was evident in a parade down Main
Street in Winslow in the
afternoon.
Over twenty-five
units participated including
the Classic Car Club of Pike
County.
Several classes
entered floats or trucks
loaded with members of
individual classes.
Howard Briscoe, the
last principal of Winslow
High School, served as Grand
Marshall of the parade and
rode in the parade. Also on Friday evening, two other activities
were held in the old Winslow
cafeteria and gymnasium:
a Winslow school
traditional chili and peanut
butter sandwich dinner and
two basketball shooting
competitions. Both the three
point shooting and free
throw shooting competitions
were won by Doug Burns
(Class of 73). It
is estimated that over four
hundred alumni and friends
attended the Winslow events.
On Saturday afternoon alumni gathered at the
Holiday Inn Airport
Evansville to continue the
celebration of the 100th
anniversary.
The Pike Central
Swing Choir performed in the
hotel atrium for the group.
Their selections were
well chosen including a
rousing rendition of the old
Winslow Eskimo Fight Song.
After dinner a letter of appreciation from Kayla
Mason was read to the guests
expressing her appreciation
for receiving the
scholarship.
She was in attendance
and was introduced as the 29th

Scholarship recipient from
Pike Central High School.
