David Burkhart, 68 of Hillsboro, Indiana
passed away at 8:50 a.m. on Monday, November 10, 2008 at his residence
He was born in Pike County, February 7,
1939, the son of Ernest E. and Thelma R. (Howard) Burkhart. He
married Kathleen McGoye, June 8, 1963.
He was a graduate of Winslow High Class
of 1958. He participated in basketball at Winslow High School.
He served in the U.S. Army from 1961 to 1963 with a rank of Sp4 and then
two years in the Army Reserves. He retired from R. R. Donnelley and
Sons where worked in the CRS Dept. During his retirement he also
worked seasonally at Shades State Park. He was a member of the
Crawfordsville Gun Club and the NRA.
David is survived by his wife, Kathleen and
two sons, Barry Burkhart of New Market and William Burkhart of
Crawfordsville; a half-sister, Barbara Miller of Oakland City, IN.;
sister-in-law Katherine Burkhart of Winslow; five grandchildren.
He was
preceded in death by his parents, and three brothers, Don Burkhart, Tom
Burkhart, and Wayne Burkhart.
Visitation was on Friday, Nov 14,
2008 from 3:00 PM until 7:00 PM at the Shoemaker Funeral Home, 202 State
Rd 25 South, Waynetown, Indiana. There will be a private family
service following visitation on Friday.
He was cremated, per Burkhart's
wishes and arrangements were handled by Shoemaker Funeral Home.
