Computer Learning Center

The
Winslow
Learning
Center
was opened in 2003 and started with 4 used computers. This was a class that was
for members of the local community to learn the ways of the computer. Since that
date, and large donations from
Toyota
and S.I.N.E, along with many local institutions, it now is in operation with 18
new Dells that are online through Sit-co in
Evansville
, via High Speed wireless internet. In addition to the Internet, the center has
started a program called JAWS, which is a voice recognition program for the
sight impaired. Starting with interest for the local community, we have now
expanded to the surround counties for the sight impaired program. The center
also places good operating computers in homes that cannot otherwise have this
learning tool in their homes. Eight computers are set aside for those still in
education in the local community schools, having various Microsoft Office
products, allowing them the time to prepare papers for the next day class and
print over a networked printer. The center is designed to operate on donations
and grants, and has no charges for any services.
