| WINSLOW- Treaver Scott Davis, 96, at rest Friday, Jan.
19, 2007, was born Jan. 8, 1911, in Littles, Ind., and a resident of
Winslow, Ind., for most of his life.
Since March of 2006, he had been a resident at Independence
Village in Naperville.
He is survived by one daughter, Treva Beth (husband Chuck)
Brashers of Naperville, Ill.; three grandchildren, Brandon (wife
Tiffany) Brashears of Montgomery, Ill., Brianna (husband Cameron) Weust
of Des Moines, Iowa, and Brittan Brashears of Naperville; and five
great-grandchildren.
Preceding him in death were his parents, Maud E. (nee Wood) and
John Cliff Davis; his beloved wife, Fern, nee Ford, whom he married in
1938; two sisters, Beulah (Davis) Heuring, Bonita (Davis) Barnett; and a
brother, Norval Davis.
He graduated from Winslow High School in 1930 and received a B.A.
degree in Liberal Arts from Oakland City College in 1935. Following
graduation, Mr. Davis taught at both Winslow High School and Palmyra
High School until 1941. After being drafted into the Army Air
Corps in 1941, he received a honorary medical discharge in 1943.
Following his military service he was employed by the Old Ben Coal
Company in the Purchasing and Inventory Control Department, where he
remained until his retirement in 1973.
As an active member of the Winslow General Baptist Church, he
taught Sunday School classes for many years. He was a member of the
Winslow Masonic Lodge, the Scottish Rite Bodies of the valley and the
Hadi Temple of Evansville. He served as president of the Pike County
Hadi Shrine Club in 1971 and maintained membership in the Oakland City
University Alumni Association. He also enjoyed gardening, fishing and
painting. Visitation will take place at the Curtis Funeral Home in
Winslow, on Friday, Jan. 26, from 5 to 8 p.m., with services at the
Winslow General Baptist Church on Saturday, Jan. 27, at 10 a.m. Burial
will be in the Oak Hill Cemetery in Winslow.
