| Mabel June Coleman DuPont passed away on Friday,
August 29, 2008, at the Golden Living Center in Petersburg, Indiana,
at the age of 91. She was born on June 30, 1917, in Pikeville,
Indiana, in the family home to Verner and Emil (Riesenbeck) Coleman.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her loving husband
William J. in 1984 and her son Kermit E. "Gene" DuPont in
2006, her two sister, Emily Maxine Coleman, in 1936, and Cathryn
Barnett, in 2004.
She is survived by her granddaughter, Joy Hermann (Tom) of
Brooklyn, New York, and grandson, Stanley DuPont of Tampa, Florida;
one great-granddaughter, Alice DuPont of Tampa, Florida,
daughter-in-law, Karen DuPont of Winslow, Ind., and Janice DuPont,
mother of her grandchildren, of Petersburg. She also is
survived by her two step grandsons, Kent (Becky) Newton of Chicago,
Ill., and Marc (Mandy) Newton, Newburgh, Ind., and four step great-grandchildren,
two nephews, Gordon (Carol) Barnett of Winslow and Wesley (Marlene)
Barnett of New Whiteland, Ind., and one niece, Janet (Walter) Shaw
of Richland City, Ind.
June enjoyed the peacefulness of the country being a farmer's
daughter and wife. She enjoyed sewing, gardening, canning and
helping others. She also enjoyed cooking and was known for her
slaw.
June graduated from the Winslow High School with the class of
1936. She was a lifetime member of the Winslow United
Methodist Church and the IOOF International Order of Odd Fellows
Rebekah Lodge No. 202, which she was a past Grand Noble.
Funeral services for June DuPont were held at 10 a.m. EDT
Wednesday, September 3, 2008, at the Curtis Funeral Home in Winslow,
Ind. Burial followed in the Cup Creek Cemetery, near
Pikeville, Ind. The Rev Carl Meeks officiated the funeral
service.
Friends called for visitation at the Curtis Funeral Home in
Winslow from 3 to 8 p.m. EDT Tuesday, September 2, 2008.
Rebekah Lodge held their services at 6:30 p.m. EDT Tuesday.
