Winslow, Ind - Mr. Kermit Eugene Dupont, 66, passed away on Wednesday, November 29, 2006, at his home near Winslow, Ind. Gene was born in Perry County, Ind., to William J. and Mabel June (Coleman) Dupont. Gene was a retired instrument and electrical foreman for I.P.&L. and a farmer. He graduated from Winslow High School in 1958 and from Oakland City University. He also attended the United Electronics Laboratory in Louisville, Ky. He was an Army veteran and a member of the Winslow American Legion Post 0115. He was a member of the Petersburg Masonic Lodge 121 and Scottish Rite. He is survived by his wife, Karen Bassett Dupont; his mother, Mabel June Dupont of Petersburg, Ind.; two children, Joy Lynn (Tom) Herrmann, of Brooklyn, N.Y., and Stanley Eugene Dupont, of Tampa, Fla.; two stepsons, Kent (Becky) Newton, of Chicago, Ill., and Marc (Mandy) Newton, of Newburgh. Also surviving are a granddaughter, Alicia Dupont, of Tampa, and three step-grandchildren, Devin and Kiley, of Newburgh and Will, of Chicago. His former wife and mother of his children, Janice Dupont of Petersburg, also survives. He was preceded in death by his father, William J. Dupont. A celebration of life was held at 10 a.m. Monday at the Corn-Colvin Funeral Home, in Oakland City, Ind., with burial in Cup Creek Cemetery near Velpen, Ind.
