EVV Area WHS Alumni Next Luncheon - Friday,
August 20, 2010
The next EVV Area WHS Alumni Luncheon
will be held at Wolf's, 6600 1st Ave on Friday,
August 20, 2010 at 12:00 Noon
CDT. Everyone is invited to attend the EVV Area
WHS Alumni luncheons held on the third
Friday of each month. If interested in
attending please contact John Dedman at jdedman@wowway.com
or call 812-422-6683 for more information.
This luncheon is open to all but we do need to
know who is going to attend if possible.
Dress is casual. Tell your classmates
and bring a friend. All WHS Alumni and
friends are welcome. We will be in the
Upper Level Dining Room - you can enter by the
Main entrance or by the Carry Out Entrance.
Also, contact and invite someone who has not been
before.

Winslow
Postal Clerks begin wearing new Postal
Uniforms in 1962
The Postal
Clerks at the Winslow, Indiana Post
Office, Winslow, Indiana began wearing
new postal uniforms while performing
window duty in December
1962. Postmaster Evart
Julian was Postmaster at the time and
the windows clerks were Gladys Robling
and Clayton E. Curtis. Later
after Evart Julian's retirement,
Clayton Curtis became Postmaster at

Park is located on Highway
61 at the south edge of
Winslow.
- Admission
$1 per person, children
under 10 will be admitted
free. There will be no
additional dealer fee!
Proceeds will benefit town
of Winslow.
- Dealer
registration is encouraged,
but not required.
- Dealer spaces are
first-come, first serve.
- Dealers are responsible
for bringing needed tables
and/or display set-ups.
- Dealers are encouraged to
set up after 6:00 AM on the
day of flea market.
However, dealers may set-up
on Friday before the sale,
but are responsible for
items left unattended.
- Food dealers are
responsible for obtaining
necessary permits from the
Health Department.
- Flea market times will be
advertised as 8:00 AM - 2:00
PM. Therefore, dealers
are encouraged to remain at
flea market during scheduled
time.
- Not responsible for lost,
stolen, or broken items.
- Do not sell used
clothing.
- Canopy
tents are allowed.
- No
electrical hook-ups.
- Porta pot
on premises.
- Please
remove trash before leaving.

Class of 1954 Donates Their
Flower Fund to the Winslow High
School Alumni Association
Scholarship Fund - The
WHS Class of 1954 donated $500
to the Winslow High School
Alumni Association Scholarship
Fund held at the Pike County
Community Foundation. The
Class of 54 elected to do this
instead of sending flowers at
the time of death of a
classmate. The money was
given to assist the scholarship
fund and a card of sympathy will
be sent to the classmates
family.

stands overlooking Winslow, but
we have added a photo of it
taken on a snowy January day
back in 1956. It is
a view from Center Street and
should be well recognized by a
lot of viewers. You

WHS Alumni should find interesting. The
sites were created by Winslow resident, Rose Beyke.
She is interested in promoting the history of Winslow
and what is happening today. The Indiana
Story Tellers Blog is the

has some interesting LINKS to enjoy. One of

The Winslow Eskimos from Winslow High School,
Winslow, Indiana have been around since 1911 and were in existence
until end of school year 1974. Beginning school year 1975 Winslow was
consolidated along with all the other high schools in Pike County, Indiana into
Pike Central High School. Pike Central is located 4 miles
north of Winslow, Indiana. Many former Winslow Eskimo
children, grand-children, etc now attend Pike Central. There
also is a Winslow Elementary School still in Winslow and a feeder school
for Pike Central. |
