| Freida Helena Evans Cooper, 86, of Washington, Indiana
died at 6 a.m. Sunday, July 18, 2010 at Eastgate Manor. Born October
10, 1923, in Pike County, she was the daughter of Eldon and Hazel (Ashby)
Evans. They preceded her in death.
She was a graduate of Winslow High School, Class of 1942 and
attended Lockyear's Business College in Evansville. She was a member
of Arthur's General Baptist Church but attended Washington Church of
Christ. She was a Past Matron, Grand Page and a 50-year member of
Order of Eastern Star Winslow Chapter 391, dual member of Glendale Chapter
No. 461, Past Mother Advisor of Order of Rainbow for Girls Assembly No. 72
in Winslow, Indiana. She retired from Dairy Mart Regional
Office in Columbus, Ohio, as a personnel secretary.
She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Joe W. Cooper; a sister,
Arlene Harker of Washington; a brother, Frank Evans of Petersburg; a
grandson, Brian Thompson of Galloway, Ohio; a foster daughter, Mary
Lashley of Danville, Ohio; and special nieces, Diana Bailey of Winslow and
Leah Dressler of Evansville. She is preceded in death by a daughter,
Rita Thompson Morrisey. She will be cremated and there will be a
family memorial service at 11 a.m. Friday, July 23, 2010 at
Washington Church of Christ, 311 Hillsdale Drive, Washington, Indiana,
with Raymond Harris officiating. Entombment will be in
Sugarland Memory Gardens Mausoleum at a later date.
