| William Allen Corn -
Portland, Michigan, Age 79, passed away on January 18, 2009. He was
born October 22, 1929 in Winslow, Indiana, the son of Herbert and Arah
(Woodford) Corn.
William was a graduate of the Class of 1947 at
Winslow High School, Winslow, Indiana and a cheer leader at WHS.
He was an avid NASCAR fan and enjoyed racing
go-carts and stock cars. He also enjoyed toy trains and airplanes.
He volunteered at the V.F.W. Post #4090 during their fish fry's, breakfasts
and other dinners.
William was preceded in death by his sister,
Shirley Stimack, and a son, Michael Allen Corn. Surviving are his
wife, JoAnn; daughter, Debbie (Mike) Fata; daughter-in-law, Beth Corn;
grandson, Michael Allen Corn III; sister, Mary Jo (Gary) Schlarf; brother,
Terry (Connie) Corn; sister-in-law, Sue Taylor and Yvonne Simmons;
brothers-in-law, Robert Simmons, Jerry (Barb) Simmons, and Terry Simmons;
special kids, "the Dorskys"; and many nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be conducted by Pastor
Daniel L. Stemen at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, January 21, 2009 at eh
Schrauben-Lehman Funeral Homes, 210 E. Bridge St., Portland,
Michigan. Interment will follow at Portland Cemetery. The
family will receive friends 2-4 and 6-8 p.m., Tuesday at the funeral home.
