| Winslow, Indiana -- Velma (Hale) Pancake, 98, died
November 16, 2009, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. She was born on October
26, 1911, the first of six children born to Luther and Ethel
Hale. Velma was a graduate of Winslow High School, Class of 1930.
She attended Oakland City College and Evansville College and taught
elementary school for a number of years in Winslow and Liberty, Indiana
On June 16, 1946 she married Tim Pancake and she and Tim lived in
Chicago, IL, Brazil, IN, Martinsville, IN, Kansas City, MO, Omaha, NE, and
Cedar Rapids, IA. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Stars and
PEO.
Surviving is a sister, Esther Jacobs of Indianapolis, IN; a
brother, Harry Hale of Ames, IA, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation is 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. EST Saturday, November 21, 2009
at Curtis Funeral home, Winslow, Indiana.
Burial and graveside service at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, November 21,
2009 in Pleasant Ridge Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to
the family.
