Winslow, IN--Floyd "Bruce" Jones, 84, of
Winslow went to be with his Lord Friday, March 4, 2011, at the Deacones
Hospital, in Evansville. Bruce was born September 19, 1926, at home in
Hazelton, Indiana to Rev. Isaac Newton and Mary Elizabeth (Meade) Jones.
He graduated from Bruceville High School in Bruceville, in 1945.
He was a leading scorer in basketball in Knox County and was also
the team captain. He married Patty Ann Heuring, November 3, 1945, at the
Winslow Methodist Church by the groom's father. Bruce was an IU
basketball and St. Louis Cardinal baseball fan. He was a big support of
Winslow High School basketball.
He attended the Christian Church in Winslow. Bruce was retired
from the Old Ben Coal Co. as a traffic manager.
Surviving are his wife of 65 years, Patty Jones, of Winslow; two
daughters, Judith Ann (John) Marks, of Evansville,Martha Jane (Jay)
Ingrams, of Bedford,Ky, 6 grandsons, 2 great-granddaughters, 2 great
grandsons.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, March 9, 2011 at 11 a.m. at the
Winslow Christian Church with Dr. Robert Asa. Visitation will be at the
Curtis Funeral Home in Winslow, Tuesday, March 8, 2011 from 3 to 8 p.m.
Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery in Winslow, IN. In lieu of
flowers, donations may be made to the Winslow Christian Church.
