Delta M. Mattingly, 97, of Washington,
Indiana, passed away at
4:27 p.m. Tuesday at Hillside Manor Nursing Home. Born Nov. 16, 1913, in
Pike County, she was the daughter of Simon and Hattie Jane (McCellan)
Reed.
A 1931 graduate of Winslow High School, she was a member of Our
Lady of Hope Catholic Church. She had worked at Reliance Manufacturing,
U.S. Rubber Plant and Perdue Processing Plant.
She is survived by four
daughters and sons-in-law, Mary Kay and Walt Miller, Judy and Darrell
Ainscough, Donna and Harold Bradley, and Patricia Nolley, all of
Washington; 14 grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; 22
great-grandchildren; 10 stepgreat-grandchildren; 13
great-great-grandchildren; and two stepgreat-great-grandchildren. Her
husband, Bernard Mattingly, whom she married Nov. 10, 1934, died Jan.
17, 1998. She is also preceded in death by one grandson, Steven Todd
Medlin; one great-grandson, David Joseph Nolley; two sisters, Bertha
Mallett and Mildred Brown; and five brothers, Jim, Leon, Frank, Randall
and Lester Reed.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10
a.m. Wednesday at Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church, with Rev. Leo Kiesel
as celebrant. Burial will be in St. John’s Cemetery. Visitation is
from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday, with a wake service at 4 p.m., at Ed Lee
