Winslow, Ind. - Charles William "Chic" McLain, 84, of
Winslow, passed away Thursday, October 8, 2009 at the St. Mary's Medical
Center in Evansville. Charles was born June 19, 1925, in Winslow to
Elmo and Nola Hayes McLain.
He was a graduate of Winslow High School, Class of 1942.
Charles belonged to the Mt. Pisgah Church, Masonic Lodge of Hartford, KY,
Scottish Rite , and the Operating Engineers Spearhead Division Local
181. He was also a WWII veteran in the European Theater 3rd Armored.
He is survived by his wife, Marian "Sugar" Thomas McLain
of Winslow, Ind., son, Michael (Judy) McLain of Otwell, Ind., daughters,
Sherri Wesley and Cathy Harker, both of Arthur, Ind.; 6 grand children; 16
great-grandchildren; sister, Ruby Smith of Washingotn, Ind., and nieces
and nephews.
He was preceded in death by son, Kevin McLain, grandson, Scott
McLain, twin granddaughters, Marian and Mildred Maxey, his parents, and 2
sisters, Lottie McLain and Louise Reel.
Services will be Monday, October 12, 2009 at 11 a.m. at the Curtis
Funeral Home in Winslow, Ind.
Masonic services will be Sunday evening. Burial will be
in the Augusta Cemetery in Augusta, Ind., with a military service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Mt. Pisgah Church
Building Fund.
