Marvin Dale Nelson, 74, of Winslow, Indiana passed away
Tuesday, May 10, 2011 at the Amber Manor Care Center in Petersburg,
IN. he was born November 3, 1936 in Winslow to William and Hazel
Josephine (Beadles) Nelson. He graduated from Winslow High
School, Class of 1955 where he played basketball for the Winslow Eskimos. He served in the U.S. Air Force. Marvin
worked at Crane NWSC, where he took pride in his skilled trade and retired
as a tool maker. Marvin loved music and shared his guitar playing
with friends and at church. He loved to fish the White river and the
company he enjoyed at the river. In recent years, Marvin, found
great joy in returning to the fellowship of Flat Creek Baptist Church. Marvin is survived by his sons, Andy
(Ann) Nelson of Elberfeld; Chris (Heather) Nelson of Winslow; 6
beloved grandchildren, Madison, Grace, Nate, Macy, Gabriel and Ethan
Nelson; a dear brother, Donald Nelson and sister Joetta Gudorf of
Winslow; and his dear friend, Katherine Burkhart of Winslow who provided
so much encouragement and spiritual strength to him. Funeral services
were Saturday, May 14, 2011, 10:00 AM at the Curtis Funeral Home in
Winslow with his friend and pastor, Bro. Dale Frederick officiating..
Special music was played by friends, Bro. Ed Uppencamp and Bro. Buford
Thomas. Visitation was Friday, May 13, from 4:00 to 8:00 PM at
the funeral home. Burial will be at the Sunset Cemetery in Winslow,
Indiana. The family rejoices in knowing that our beloved accepted
his Saviour, Jesus, and he is now at peace in his kingdom resting on the
shady bank of a beautiful river. |
