Robert A. "Bob" Thurman - April 29, 1939 - January 16,
2010
Anderson, Ind - Robert A. "Bob" Thurman, 70, passed away
early in the morning on January 16, 2010, after complications from an
extended battle with Parkinson's disease.
He was the second oldest of five brothers who grew up in Winslow,
Indiana. He was a member of the Winslow High School Class of
1957. It was there that he picked up his family values and Southern
charm. He was a graduate of Anderson High School, Anderson,
Indiana. He joined the Air Force shortly after meeting the love of
his life, Carolyn.
He worked as a toolmaker, retiring from Yorktown Tool and Die.
Robert enjoyed the outdoors, especially mushroom hunting in the
spring, for which he had an eagle eye. he loved to play croquet, and
was an expert card player. Robert was an accomplished Southern and
country cook.
Survivors include his wife, Carolyn Mabbitt Thurman; four children,
Tammy (Bruce) Hughes, Tina Alexander Johnson, Terry (Lisa) Thurman and
Trevor (Leslie) Thurman; four brothers, O.D. (JoAnn) Thurman, Richard
(Eileen) Thurman, Tom (Marty) Thurman and Roger (Lynette) Thurman; six
grandchildren, Tiffiny, Brock, tyler, Carnesseya, Tori and Jaycee;
sister-in-law, Sherry (David) Riddle; brother-in-law, Dan (Janet) Mabbitt;
and several nieces and nephews.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents, O.C. and Monta Thurman.
Services were held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, January 19, 2010 at Rozelle-Johnson
Funeral Service, Anderson, Ind., officiated by Keith Wooden. Burial at East Maplewood Cemetery.
Visitation one hour prior to the Tuesday service.
