Boonville, Ind. - Doris E. Williams, 96, of Boonville, Ind passed
away July 2, 2009, at the Woodlands in Newburgh, Ind.
Doris was born August 17, 1912, in Winslow to Thomas and Ethel
Curtis Hurt. She was a graduate of Winslow High School, Class of
1929. Mrs. Williams was a mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and
great-great grandmother and will be missed by family and friends.
She loved to cook, sew, did many crafts, and loved planning parties on
many occasions. She will be remembered for starting te first school
meals program in Winslow. Se was a den mother for the Boy Scouts of
Pike County. Se was a life member of the Arthur G.B. Church.
Mrs. Williams is survived by a daughter, Rhea (Carter) Young of
Evansville; a son and caregiver, Don Carter of Boonville; stepdaughters,
Melissa (Gil) Phillips of Oakland city and Melinda Reister; stepsons, Jim
(Marcene) Williams of Boonville; Raymond (Tammy) Williams of Oakland City;
John (Sharon) Williams of Social Circle, Ga.; Ed (Wanda) Williams of
Marion, Ill.
In addition to her parents, Doris was preceded in death by two
husbands, Mike Carter and Maurice Williams, three sisters, Ruth McGlasson,
Oleva Smith and Voris Hurt, a brother, Curtis James Hurt and a son, Larry
Carter.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, July 7, at 2 p.m. Pike County Time
at the Curtis Funeral Home in Winslow, Ind, with Rev Honna Schioss
officiating. Visitation will be Monday, July 6, from 4 to 8 p.m.
Pike County time at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Oak Hill
Cemetery in Winslow.
We wish to thank her caregivers Asera-care and the nursing staff at
Woodlands and especially to her great-granddaughter, Ivy. Donations
may be given to the Methodist Church in Lynnville or the Arthur G.B.
Church in Arthur.
