Howard 'Bud' Parker Jr.
OAKLAND CITY — Howard "Bud" Parker Jr., 74, passed away on
Sunday, April 2, 2006, at the Cypress Grove Rehab Center in Newburgh. Bud
was a retired pharmacist and also co-owned and operated the Parker Drug
Store in Oakland City for many years. He also served in the Army during
the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the Good Shepherd United Methodist
Church in Oakland City. Bud graduated from Winslow High School in 1949 and
graduated from Purdue University in 1953 (member of the Purdue Alumni).
He was 32nd degree in the Winslow 260 F. & A.M., member of the Hadi
Shrine, O.C. Eagles, O.C. American Legion, and a past president of the
Southwestern Indiana Pharmaceutical Association.
He was born July 27, 1931, in Evansville to Howard A. and Henrietta
Parker Sr., both deceased.
Bud is survived by his wife, Kathleen "Kathy" (Cooksey) Parker
of Evansville; two daughters and sons-in-law, Dr. Jane Parker and Mark
Hotz of Evansville and Sally & Mario Menchaca of San Antonio, Texas;
stepchildren, Tina Hale of Fort Branch, Melanie Kleumper of Jasper, Ind.,
David Andrews of Nashville, Tenn.; 12 grandchildren, Anna and Mei Li Hotz,
Parker and Sarah Menchaca, Joey, Kristen, Stephen and Michelle Andrews,
Andy and Michael Hale, Alex and Drew Kleumper; a sister and
brother-in-law, Linda and Jim Troxler of Jasper; a brother and
sister-in-law, Jim and Karen Parker of Oakland City.
Funeral services were held at 11:30 a.m. Thursday April 6, 2006, at
the Corn-Colvin Funeral Home in Oakland City with Dr. Douglas Low
officiating. Burial was at the Montgomery Cemetery in Oakland City.
Friends called from 4 until 8 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the East Gibson Dollars for
Scholars or Good Shepherd United Methodist Church. Envelopes will be
