A page from the past...       Winslow Railroad Bridge 1913 Flood
 
During the 1913 flood,  water in the Patoka River came up to the railroad bridge.  In the 1937 flood it came up on the lower parts of the bridge and men stood on the bridge with long poles and pushed logs and debris down under the bridge to keep from washing it out.   On the Highway  61 bridge logs and debris also had to be pushed down under to keep the bridge from being washed away.   The tall man with the hat in the center of the crowd standing on the Winslow Railroad bridge above was Hiram Dedman.
